Fingers/Toes crossed, rabbits foot around neck and lucky keyring in tow.....i've never needed this excellent service personally but, ....'04 we had a rider down on a run in the Lake District and the Medevac saved his life....a friend, Al, was lifted to a special unit in Middlesborough after a life-threatening high-speed off on an R1 Fazer this summer and remains there to this day....Sgt Mjr Yates wrote off his R1 trying to get home to watch the last MotoGP 2006 and ended up safe, albeit in traction....all due to the actions of the North Yorkshire Air Ambulance....support your local one......at the 2004 accident, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance had been back in service for just 5 days, after being grounded due to lack of funds.....it really brings it home to you....without it the guy would have been dead for sure.... ....and even with it Natalie left us
There may be a time on the road that the fastest medevac in the world won't help you, be it cage or bike, people....but a few quid for insurance never hurt......
I, for, one, give money every year.......
Call it deposit in the Bank Of Karma........you never know when you'll need it.....playing poker with St.Peter or waking up in a helicopter on the way to a specialist Hospital....call it top-up insurance (one which the government refuses to sponsor) and ride safe people..... |

Similar to Steves post above ... coming back from Hawes last year we came across a rider down .. forced off the road by another biker who fooked off.!! We stopped n set up traffic controlling .. Nearest police/ambulance took about 20 + mins to arrive and the air amb was called in to evac to Middlesborough hosp...
It was only when the Police arrived and I was relieved from traffic control that I went back up to the scene to get my bike only to find that the rider was someone I knew ! .. He was a lucky one and made a full recovery.
If they hadn't been able to fly in .. the journey would have taken about an hour + on those roads.
A most worthy cause to donate to and the BIKEWISE show by Durham Constabulary usually pushes its "entry"donation proceeds to the N.Yorks Air Ambulance.
We know we need these guys and it's our support that keeps em flying .......DIG DEEP+ SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SERVICE .. It's heading into "silly" season .. |
