 |
|
Good evening, encountered a little (well f*****g big) problem!
A week ago I tried to fit some LED' indicators to the rear of my K2 2003 GSXR 600. After fiddling with the wires I found that the one indicator wouldn't work and my META alarm fob no longer made the bike beep. Went to start it and it started fine so thought I'd sort that out later. Been fine for a week starting with no problems, I just though the alarm was deactivated.
Came home with new leathers and helmet today, straight on bike, round to my parents to drop off some cash. Went to leave and wouldn't start. Put the key into the ON position and nothing when I clicked the start button. Tried a few times and suddenly the alarm came on (very loud!). Now everytime the key goes to the on position the alarm goes off and the bike will not start.
Have located the alarm by removing the tail, can't see any obvious fuses linked to the alarm.
Tempted to cut the alarm but worried it will leave bike in an immobilised state.
Any help appreciated??? |

not sure how much help this will be to you .. do you still have the Orange/red card with the alarm code on ? You can try and disarm the alarm by using the ignition "override" mode .
don't know which Meta system you have but I'd assume one of the ones mentioned on Meta's website ( direct link below) .. If you know the model .. click on the appropriate one and it will open a a link to a PDF instruction how to disarm it using the above
[link]
This forum can be handy as well .. you have to join to ask Q's and get responses etc but the answers aren't always forthcoming in a rush .. fair few Meta related problems on there !!

I may have some paperwork, I know I have seen some META related documents, I will check as soon as I return home.
There seems to be some differences in disarming between META models. My one concern is that the fob is currently useless and one set of operating instructions states the following:
Pressing the transmitter for 1 second will switch the complete system off. If the ignition is not switched on, the immobilisation will automatically re-arm in 45 seconds.
I'm concerned that by transmitted the above is refering to some interaction between the fob and alarm.
Sorry for essay, will update once I have the META documents. |

Have the installation documents with model number (M357T) and 5-digit over ride code.
Having looked at instructions it states the following:
Turn the ignition on (the LED will be on)
1. Turn the ignition off within 10s (the LED will flash with an even
sequence)
2. Turn the ignition on when the LED has flashed the number of
times corresponding to the first digit of the override code
3. Turn the ignition off within 10s (the LED starts a new flash
sequence)
4. Turn the ignition on when the LED has flashed the number of
times corresponding to the second digit of the override code
5. Continue with this procedure until the entering of the fifth digit.
6. When the fifth digit has entered, if the code is correct, the system
disarms.
Seems pretty simple, will try tomorrow, fingers crossed. |

Overide wouldn't work at all for some reason but managed to find a fuse that I had not seen before, removed it and the alarm stopped. Replaced the fuse with a new 30A and the bike was fine, started first time which is great news, albeit that the weather is now terrible.
Only problem is that the fob isn't registering but thats minor.
Cheers for advice and hope the thread helps anyone with similar problem. |

Mate, Iv'e had so many problem's with alarm's in the past-their a pain in the arse.
My advice would be to cut the fcuk off, re-crimp all connection's, and protect with some shrink-wrap.
Job done.
