 |
|
Hi Guys.
I went out today to get a whole load of cleaning stuff for the bike. I purchased some Muc Off - Chain cleaner and was a bit hesitant about getting it as just did not think it would shift all the wax.
BUT
It really worked. I had completely forgotten that my chain was GOLD I still have a bit of work to do on it to get the chain and sprocket completely clean and shiny again but on the first go it come up great.
I am not going to use Wax any more and am going back to MUC off chain lube. I have tried the wax for the last few months and it is a pain in the arse. Hey ho you got to try these things.
Question. What are you guys using to clean the chain and sprockets? i was thinking like a tough wire brush but would that be the right thing?

Doesn't need to be a wire brush craig, nylon will be strong enough. I use a big toothbrush generally
Whats wrong with chain wax, personally I really like it, I fear however we may restart an age old debate that has no definitive answer |

i find it easyist to use two tooth brushes opposed to each other for cleaning
as for chain wax, wont touch the stuff. i use my bike all year in all weathers and while the wax does not fling as much, it'll shag ya chain through winter cos all the road crud sticks to it and there goes ya chain |

Not had to clean mine quite yet. At 600 miles it's had two lubes both using silkolene chain lube. It makes a mess of my back wheel straight away. My main dealers technician couldn't praise the stuff enough despite them being Wurth agents.
I've been told parafin is good for chain cleaning, I don't know if it will do any harm to the seals in modern chains?? |
