I want to name and shame Jeff Halls Motorcycles in Sheffield.
I had an alarm fitted that just wouldnt stop going off for no reason, it went on for months and when i eventually went back and insisted a refund, Jeff Hall himself threw £200 in £10 notes over the counter at me. They hit me in the face and went all over the place, then he ran off into the stores.
Its a good job he did cos i was ready for stranglin him! |

Surrey Motorcycle Center Lingfield, Surrey. Bascically they sell crappy old shitters at a massive mark up. They even tried to sell a written off bike to a mate of mine. Lucky he did an hpi check.

Avoid The Motorcycle Centre in Blindley Heath, Surrey. Also have a branch in Felbridge.
On 4/9/07 I collected my ZX9 from them, they had fitted new front brake pads. 4 days later, on slowing down for a junction I lost control of the bike. Due to my injuries I was removed from the scene by an ambulance. The Police recovered the bike to a garage, subsequently the guy that recovered the bike reported that when he went to move my bike to load it onto the trailer on he heard a plinkety-plunk sound and found something lying on the floor next to the front wheel. It was one of my front pads.
When my new pads were fitted one of them must have slipped as the mechanic was fitting the caliper/pad pin and the pin never went through the locating hole on the top of the pad. The pad was "hanging" in the caliper and the only thing preventing it from falling out was the disc carrier. The wear pattern on the pad shows that it was pressing up against the carrier and not the disc (there's a step worn in the material). When I braked at the stop sign the pad finally moved and it jammed the front wheel solid.
4 Broken ribs, broken collar bone, punctured lung and a fooked bike. |

I don't exactly want to right this lot off, so let me explain what I expect from a shop. this is not an advert!!
I have worked on bikes since I was 17, I'm now 41. I have had various bikes, like many folk I've done all manner of work on them. I built a Drag bike, had 2 stokes, big fours little fours, twins, singles, the lot. I've worked on mates engines from the crank up for nothing, I love it. My standards are high and I expect nothing more than it being done right and care to be taken on something I have paid good money for.
I hate using any shop for anything, but usually do whene it's still within a waranty, but never again.
I purchased a new bike form KC Superbikes in Carlisle, the 750 recently went in for it's first service. I had the misfortune to watch some spotty oik perform the service on it, well, I felt the need to watch him like a hawk. Not once did they use a torque wrench, he then over filled the oil, overtightened the chain tension, didn't clean the bench down before rolling the bike off through the oil left on the bench etc....
Later that day, I removed the front callipers as I didn't trust what he had done, and I don't know about you lot, but I like to know my brakes are going to work. They were smothered in copperslip, all over the pads,pistons and calipers. They were so bad, that I drove back down to the shop with the pads to show the owner, who basically looked at me as said, why what's wrong with them? I pointed out the error of his ways, and will never be using them again for anything.
No this may appear as a trivual thing, but is this not a 170mph motorcycle, I value my life a bit more than they charged for the service. |

Now I dont know about you guys, but when I go and spend £6,500 on a 1400 mile K6 750, then I dont want to find out nearly a month later that the bike was involved in a head on with a tyre wall on a track day !!!
I asked the Sales person the history of the bike and he said it was sold by them new, and the guy just didnt get on with it. He forgot to mention that the shop had either assesed the damage on the bike or they had repaired the damage (I never got the truth out of them), but I know it was one or the other.
So after throwing nearly £2,500 at the bike, on bits. I had to get all the bits off again and thrash out some sort of arrangement.
It took me a week of visits and heated phone calls haggling about this that and the other and threatening court action to get a brand new K7 for £7,000.
Yes it wasnt a bad deal in the end. The guy even had the cheek to say 'don't forget the 1st service'!! I told him he would never see the bike again and walked out.
So avoid them if you dont want to spend wedge on a ringer !!!!!!! |

The only good guys are if you fit your own you then know the jobs done right and theres no damage caused plus Its a lot cheaper
then take them to tyre fitters for balancing |
