I had my K3 1000 done by the man at Oulton, didn't quite "transform" the bike but it's definately better. And he offered full follow up advice if I am not happy with it on the road, all I have to do is ring him and he will go through it with me.
I will dig out the spec sheet he gave me and post up what he set it up as. |

| Anyone tinkered with the K6 750? Rumblings of a raised rear improving the package? |

At our trackdays at Cadwell last week, I had mine set up by Mick Grant(Yes...THE Mick Grant)
OK, It cost me £40, But it made one hell of a difference!
It completely changed the handling of the bike.....Made me a lot more confident .........
Cheers Mick..... |

Hi gixxernick, have just been asked by a mate if i would ask you guys for some settings. He has a 2002 GSXR600 and he bought a GSXR2003/4 Penske shock off of fleabay.it fitted ok but he has tried setting it up but cant get a setting he is happy with. It's good on Motorways and Dual carriageways, but go on a back road and it tries to throw you out of the seat.He is 12 and a half stone. He says it's got a 475 lb/inch spring, high comp, low comp, rebound and ride height settings. Can you give him any advice.I hope all this makes sense to you,if you need more info i'll try and get it for you.Cheers, motley |

A fully adjustable Penske with that much adjustment is gonna be a bitch to set up for road use especially if you don't know what settings are already dialled into it. I would suggest (no disrespect to tha NickDogg) a visit to a set-up specialist......i find meself in the same boat with a re-built TechnoFlex race shock from a race bike, which i'm gonna take to Revs Racing in Halesowen and get some direction. I don't know how the previous owner had it set-up, and i've got a feeling it was set up specifically for Mallory. The problem is if it isn't set up to a compromise your mate is gonna end up with totally shagged tyres after 200 miles, and a dry cleaners bill for the skids in his leathers.
I've also got a sneaking suspicion that earlier K Gixers had different suspension linkages to the K4 onwards, and different geometry. Whilst it might fit, it doesn't mean it will work as it should do.
You should have seen DirkDigglers rear tyre before he got his Ohlins set-up properley, it was totally f**ked on the right side after a day at Mallory.
Its the one downside to getting a race shock for decent price......
Just a thought mate, saw the post and thought i'd stick me beaky in |
