Hey guys i was wondering if you could give me any riding tips. I have only been riding 4 weeks, and been teaching myself if that makes sense. I think i am stupidly scared of is corners.
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated x  |

I think the best riding tip for me is to remember that you are invisible to other traffic and even if they do see you they really don't care.
Another thing is that the bike will only do what you make it do so you should fear yourself before fearing the bike. Practicing your clutch control is also a great idea, well atleast thats how i learnt. practiced pulling of without using the throttle when i started.

| everyone starts off feeling like that on corners and some of us still do (when we get it wrong), just build up at your own pace and put as many miles on the bike as you can (something I don't get the chance to do) |

The thing you have to remember is that the bike is designed to take the corners at twice the speed you or i would ever take these corners at.
If you worried about dropping the bike just remember the forward movement counters the downward movement.ie the faster you are going the harder it is to drop the bike.
As Fishy has said, take your time and put on those km/miles. |

| When rideing always look where you want to go ,through corners and so on never focus on hedges and walls and the like you then end up crashing into them it's called target fixatoin, if you go out with an other rider then ride your own ride and alway make sure you are comftable with the way it's going and never try and keep up if you are scared or not happy.. |

Do you ride with anyone that can help you. I found additional training has helped me. It's not for everyone but it can help. I train with TVAM who meet in Wokingham once a month, next meeting is Sunday. They have helped me inderstand how to handle corners a certian way, it has been useful for me. All is common sense but sometimes having it broken down and explained in simple terms helps.
I am based in Bracknell but work from home mostly but if you want some help give me a shout. I'm not trained to teach or anything so I offer no quick wiins or anything. I would always recomend proper training, ulitmately.
There are books and magazines that will help and you can dowload from this site a useful one that may help. See above in Countersteering and the Keith Code download. |

Thank you very much and i do ride with some people but they are head cases and i dont keep up with them and dont even try to. I do countersteer and have found it so much easier . and its finding the nice weather as i dont really like riding in the rain!!
They meet at St Crispins school ont they the third sunday of every month. I will be doing that but i cant at the moment with work. |

Thames valey don't do 1 day courses but they do 6 day courses spread over 6 weeks
week 1 -motor cycle control
week 2 - observation,acceleration,gears and brakes
week 3 - cornering, balance avoiding skids,positioning and signaling
week 4 - over takeing and speed
week 5 - long ride out
week 6 -chat about your long ride out ,motorway rideing,disscusion and a certificate.

If you only want a 1 day course then go to the met police at the Ace cafe north london, it costs £30 with lunch [link]
If you want good training then these are the people to go to they don't know you so are not trying to prove anything to like freinds can do.

hey guys may have to meet up with you guys also one day?
went to one of these years ago and they had avanced riders there that you can go out with and they will comment on your riding. not sure if they still do tho.
the guys i did my test with do corner training on the pirbright bends if you want there number but not sure how cheap they are ?
dont have any biker mates all car drivers a the mo in evos impezas etc |

Extra training is always good but i think it's maybe your confidence in your abuility thats holding you back???
A cure for that is to just get out there & ride the bike as often as you can.
As your confidence grows you'll find yourself 'chuckin' it into corners
Get some miles in luv the rest will come together. |
