Chaps and Chappesses, I am an extremely excited Hants_Loz. I was told this morning (unfortunately too late to join the start) that I won a prixe to join a charity ride out organised by Shaun Wright-Phillips, I expect Wayne Bridge to be there as well. For those who do not know these are Chelsea players and I am a lifelong Chelsea fan and season ticket holder of many years. Apparently there will be other celebs there, maybe other footballers. Unfortunately I did not get told until this morning and I could not make the start but I have been given a place to meet up with them and spend the afternoon.

Well i just got back, what a day, considering I had no idea it was going to happen.
I heard about the ride on Friday but to enter a competition to ride with them you had to have a Harley, I dropped a note suggesting that may be a bit selective and could they consider other bikes next year. When I got up this morning (late as I did not have anything to get up for), there was a message on my phone telling me I'd won a place on the ride but that would have meant me getting to the Harley dealership in Chelsea in 50mins. I wasn't showered or dressed so that was cutting it fine so we arrange to meet at their destinantion.
I met up with the ride just north of Maidenhead where they were stopping for lunch. Unfortunately a fair few of the celebs had dropped out overnight, leaving just SWP, Wayne Bridge, Steve Sidwell and some girls, Imogen a previous Big Brother contestant, a model come TV presenter and a few others. I met up with SWP's Aunt, (Ian Wrights sister I guess) and she made me feel really welcome. We met at a hotel (the owner was on the ride). They laid on a lovely spread, loads of food and plenty to drink (orange juice only for me). I then sat around chatting to some of the other riders, some were Chelsea fans like me. The owner of the Harley dealership is a big Chelsea fan. He supplied Harleys to some of the riders for the day.
Late afternoon they headed back toward Chelsea, except for the players, they headed back to Cobham so I rode with them to the M3 then cut back home.
I got a few photos, mainly of their bikes, not many of the people except for Steve Sidwell in front of my bike and Bridgy doing a photo shoot on his bike. Steve Sidwells dad is a big Harley fan and long term rider and a very nice man, everyone was really nice and as for Sidwells son, all the women just adored him.
Boy am I a lucky man, and to cap it all, the season kicks off next week. I'm like a kid whose Christmas has come early. I'll get some photos up as soon as I can. |

| Nowt, is that some sort of northern lingo? We'll fight all the way again I'm sure, be nice to win something but musn't get greedy. Nice to see the boys enjoying themselves though, and allowing some plebs like me to join in. Any of your boys ride? |

| They aren't allowed to ride two wheelers, not during their playing careers anyhow. SWP's old man now rides two wheeler Harleys, Les Ferdinand used to ride (and probably still does) R1's (even when playing, shhhhh). |

| To be honest, I did not recognise her until this lady pointed her out to me and then she was on her way out. I get a bit funny about taking pictures of famous people, I don't want to come across as a weird stalker or something. On Saturday night Polystyrene of X-Ray Spex came into a bar I was drinking in and I really wanted to get her to pose for a photo with me but was to afraid to ask as I didn't want to freak her out. |
