|
I recently had a problem with my bike, which showed F1 flashing in the display. See below for a description of the fault. I have left the pics BIG so that you can see the wires etc.
The fault can either let the engine run, in which case the FI and red light show alternately with the temperature every two seconds. If the engine is not allowed to run, the red light turns on and the FI light blinks continuously.
To see why the bike is unhappy see below.
Here is the Mode selector switch. As you can see, although it is a six pin connector, only two wires are used. The small switch on the end has an ‘ON’ or ‘OFF’ position.
You don’t have to have this switch, you can use a paper clip or similar to short out the connector. The switch is only £10 from your local friendly Suzuki dealer, so worth getting in my opinion.
Take off the pillion seat cowl and look for the connectors on the right-hand side of the frame rail as shown.
The plug you are looking for is this one. It is a six-way connector with four wires in it. The switch operates between the white/red and black/white wires (the ones nearest the camera in the pic).
Remove the rubber cover and fit the mode switch.
With the switch in the ‘off’ position, turn on the ignition. The fuel pump will prime as usual. After a few seconds, the temp display will show the dotted lines as seen (If the temp is high enough it will show the temperature in numbers) If the problem is still present, the display will alternate between this and ‘FI’, with the red light illuminated. Of course, during the photos the fault had disappeared!
Operating the switch to the ‘on’ position (or putting a short across the wires) will cause the error code to be shown in the display. In this case, as you can see the fault has cleared leaving C00 in the display. Before this it showed ‘C46’, which is the exhaust valve.
I do have a list of the codes, but I can't seem to add a word document! I will work it out and add it to the post later.
Hope this helps! |

Nice one mate.
Can you change the title so people realise it covers all K series (with minor differences in the lead configuration) |

Thanks for the codes, here are the ones for the K3 thou as it has the C46 for the exhaust valve, which seems to be getting common!

just for info on k6&k7 600/750 models
2) Remove seat to gain access to the dealer connector. Connector is white and has a rubber boot on it. Take the rubber boot off and locate the white/red stripe wire and the black/white stripe wire both located on the same end of the 6 prong plug. Take a paperclip and jump the 2 wires on the plug. |

I had the FI light come up a few times now. It seemed to clear when I turned the ignition off and I never took a spare key.
However, I decided to something about it so I bought the ickle switchy thing, took the spare key and hey presto C046, the exhaust thingy.
Does this mean that a fault has occurred once and is "stored" in the management system and now that I have cleared the system it won't happen again 'til next time there is a fault?
Or
Is it a fault that is still there and needs sorting out?
The bike runs fine.
Does this make sense?????
Anyways, over to you lot. |
